Beer Review: Stone and BlueJacket Suede

Tonight we tried Stone Brewery and BlueJacket Brewery’s Suede. This beer was a collaboration between the two breweries.

Appearance: Dark in color

Smell: Caramelized sugar, raisins

Taste: Molasses, Honey, Dark chocolate, Coffee, Jasmine, Raisin

Body: Medium to heavy, Velvety

Overall: 82 of 100

Alcohol By Volume: 9.6%

I love Stone Brewery’s beers.  They always live up to my expectations.  This beer is an imperial porter brewed with calendula flowers, jasmine, and honey.

Beer Review: Left Hand Brewing Co’s Milk Stout

We just picked up a six pack of Left Hand Brewing Co’s Milk Stout.

Appearance: Dark in color

Smell: Coffee

Taste: Roasted Barley, Coffee, and Chocolate

Mouth Feel: Creamy and Velvety, Slightly viscous but not too thick

Overall: 87 of 100

Alcohol By Vol: 6.0%

This beer is creamy, dark, and velvety, but yet still has a surprisingly light feel.  Despite our review of 87 out of 100 (which is still great), I like this beer a lot, it may become my go-to stout if I’m not feeling like trying something new (though that’s rare).

Time for a Beer Review!

We’ve just finished off a bottle of Hardywood – Reserve Series – Gingerbread Stout.

Appearance: Dark in color

Smell: Ginger, Molasses, Raisins, and Cloves

Taste: Ginger, Vanilla, and a Milk Chocolate finish

Mouth Feel: Velvety, Medium-body

Overall: 96 out of 100 (Beer advocate gave it 100 out of 100)

Alcohol By Vol: 9.2%

Delicious! Definitely would recommend! Perfect beverage for a cold winter night.
